Description

Honkytonk Badonkadonk

Well, honestly the rest of the drive back home wasn’t all that bad. Thankfully Inuzuka kept his mouth shut the entire time back. We introduced him to my Nan, and he was at least a bit polite. I guess he knew to respect his elders… or I’d kick his ass and lock him in the stall with Cobalt, a horse that wasn’t too friendly to strangers.

We all had eaten dinner, which was my favorite. My Nan’s fried chicken with some pretty damn good sauce. It seemed to surprise Kiba. But thankfully he liked it… he even had seconds… and thirds… Well, let’s just say there was no more when he tried for fourths. I’d shown him to the guest room as instructed by my dad. We weren’t super friendly, but we weren’t arguing either.

We all got some sleep, and I woke early in the morning to do my normal chores. Kiba… slept in till about ten. I wanted to go in and dump a bunch of water over him. Cold water. With ice cubes. But I wanted to keep what peace there was between us at the moment.

While the lazy ass slept, I ended up seeing a few old friends of mine. Keichii and Raida. Raida was like a sister to me and, well… Keichii was somewhat like a brother, but he didn’t always act like it. He could be a little flirty… with me specifically.

“So, think you can come to the bonfire at the lake tonight, Hinari?” Raida asked. She had medium length black hair and brown eyes.

“Honestly I don’t know… We’ve got a city boy with us for the entire time I’m back for and I don’t know what I’m supposed do with him.” I replied.

“Aw, come on Hinari! It wouldn’t be a party without you!” Keichii exclaimed and nudged my arm.

I had to laugh a bit. “You always say that.” Honestly. He did. Every time I said I couldn’t he’d tell me it wouldn’t be the same.

“Well, ‘cause it’s true.” He said flashing a grin. He had blonde hair with blue eyes. Not really bad looking, I must say…

Raida grinned at me as well. Those grins of hers… I didn’t always like them. Most of the time they meant she had an idea. “Well, why don’t you invite that city boy? If he’s cute he’ll do real well there!” She exclaimed.

“Hell no. He might have looks, but he’s pure city slicker. I can’t stand that asshole. He took a picture of me and stuck my face on some slut’s body and spread posters all around the school.” I said with a growl. Hey, I know holding a grudge ain’t a good idea and it ain’t the nicest thing to do, but a girl ain’t easily gonna forget something so cruel.

Both of their expressions looked shocked, and both turned to angered looks.

“That son of a bitch did what!?” Raida shouted.

“I’ll rip his balls off and shove them down his throat!” Keichii exclaimed after Raida.

The two of us girls sweat dropped hearing him. That was a bit excessive. But hey, I wanted to do the same thing at first to that Inuzuka.

“Bringing him out with me was supposed be punishment for us both… I decked him pretty hard in the jaw.” I muttered. “Got me into some pretty deep trouble.” Man, I didn’t find that fair at all. A punch wasn’t even close to evening the score.

Keichii seemed very displeased by what I was telling them. He was always kinda protective of me… He didn’t like people messing with me in the least. It never really bothered me. I could pretty much take care of myself.

We continued to talk for a bit, and I agreed to go to the bonfire, though I knew I’d have to drag Kiba with me. I didn’t want to take the chance he’d try to set some kind of trap in my room while I was off just to piss me off when I got back. I told them about my new friends back in Konoha and how they actually treated me like a person they could get along with and not some dumbass hillbilly. Actually, they were kinda scared to piss me off. I thought it was funny. Shikamaru called me troublesome at times, mostly when I got myself into trouble, or he’d do it and then give a lazy smile just messing around. Chouji, uh… he loved my cooking. Lee loved trying to spar with me in fist fighting… he was hyperactive. Naruto, well… he loved trying to pull pranks on me. Sasuke seemed to like the fact I could be laid back and didn’t make much of a fuss.

They both went off to help set up for the bonfire and I stayed back at the ranch. I was glad to see Spirit again, and I was able to ride her around for a while. By the time I got back to the house, I could smell Nan’s lunch cooking. Smelled like baked potatoes with sour cream.

I entered the house and walked into the kitchen after setting Spirit free back into the pasture. I saw Kiba sitting at the table with his phone, most likely texting his friends with what signal there was here. My dad was chowing down and Nan was pulling a few more baked potatoes out of the oven.

“So, you finally wake up sleeping beauty?” I asked Kiba sarcastically and sat down at the table across from him. Nan had already set out a plate for me.

Kiba looked up from his texting and gave a slight eye roll. “I don’t wake up at the crack of dawn like you do.” He replied. I was half tempted to reach across the table and pinch his ear then force his head to the table for that tone he just gave me, which was pretty rude mind you.

“You should. Better for you then sleeping till all hours.” I replied, muttering under my breath.

That was enough to earn me a look from Kiba. I could tell he was going to argue that he wasn’t use to it, but I shoved some baked potato in my mouth, showing I wasn’t going to start something else.

We all ate what my Nan gave us. Lord bless her soul. She was the sweetest lady you could ever meet. I always loved her. When we finished, I told Kiba about the bonfire and told him to just wear shorts or swim trunks. Of course he had to make a remark asking if I wanted to just see him shirtless. Bastard and his taunting… oh how I wanted to hit him.

Next I went out to the old barn; obviously separate from the building we kept the horses and such. I had an old truck I was working on in there. I had a little oil on me already and it wasn’t going to come off with a rag. I had the trunk popped open and I was working on the exposed engine.

The doors slid open behind me and I glanced over my shoulder to see Kiba. I raised a brow wondering what he was doing in here.

“Working on a truck? Huh?” He asked with what seemed to be a small, almost… friendly grin? What was up with that?

“Yeah, why?” I asked and tossed the oil rag over my shoulder.

“Just curious. What kind of truck is it?” He asked and walked over.

I raised a brow glancing at him where he stood looking over my truck. “Ford Ranger…” I replied.

He grinned a little more, as if he knew what brand and type this was. I wasn’t sure what to think of this new friendly Kiba, and trust me; I still didn’t fully trust him.

“Think I could try to help? I’d like to learn a few things about fixing old trucks.” Truthfully… he didn’t. The Inuzuka boy was only trying to get close to me… It was going to be harder then he thought, but he may actually just do it… He was determined to win that bet his so called friends made with him, but he didn’t realize just how deep this was going to get him.

I wasn’t quite sure what to think. But hey, better to try and be friendly as well rather than stay hostile toward him. “I suppose so…” I replied.

We worked on the truck for a little while, and obviously he found a way to get on my nerves more than once, but… we actually had some nice moments. I showed him how to check the oil in the truck to see if it was good use or not and, well… Heh, I found out I needed to change the oil in my truck. We actually ended up having a little fun and smearing oil on each other’s faces in different places. He got my cheek and nose while I got a good big smear on his forehead. I had to admit, I actually had fun…

“Hm… I think it’s about time for some music.” I said and walked over to my nice old stereo.

“Please don’t tell me its country.” Kiba said with almost an over dramatic look of horror on his face. I knew he was joking, but he was half serious.

I rolled my eyes with my hand rested on the top. “What else do you think I have? That rap music you city slickers love?” I replied raising a brow.

“Damn… I’m not a big banjo fan.” He said.

I almost started laughing right where I stood. “You gotta be kidding me. We country folk like the guitar better than any ol’ banjo.” I said putting my hands on my hips.

Kiba raised a curious brow at me. “Really? Ah, right. Just the acoustic, am I right?”

“Hell no, not just the acoustic. You insult me. We can do electric too!” I said with a huff. “You ain’t heard good music until you’ve heard Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, and Keith Urban.” I turned back to my stereo and pressed the power button, then play. At that moment, the song I Like It, I love It by Tim McGraw began to play its awesome tune.

Kiba almost seemed surprised to hear the electric guitar playing, and he seemed actually interested. I sang along a little and seemed to almost play a little air guitar. I knew the notes and strings to it, so it wasn’t hard. I smirked seeing his foot tap along to the beat. Ha, the sucker got hooked.

Kiba realized what he was doing and tried to stop his foot, but it decided not to listen and kept tapping. I laughed a bit and he turned a little red.

“It ain’t that bad. City slicker too chicken to dance to country?” That did it.

“Oh, you asked for it.” Kiba said and grinned. The red on his face faded fast, and he began to let his body move along to the beat.

My whole plan. I could so use this against him and tease that he actually danced to country. We both danced along a bit. To my surprise, I was actually kinda enjoying it. Then I heard something that surprised me more… Kiba knew the lyrics to the damned song all along! Slick bastard… I looked at him slightly surprised, but a smirk grew on my face. We both began to sing along a bit. Well who would’ve thought he knew this song.

After the song finished, we both laughed. “You knew that song didn’t you.” I said looking at him with somewhat of a grin.

“Ah, kinda… My dad use to listen to it.” He replied.

“That explains it.” Honestly, I didn’t see him listening to this of his own free will. “There may actually be hope for you yet.” I said with a slight laugh.

Kiba didn’t seem to like that idea. “Hell no, I ain’t gonna start turning into a country person!” He exclaimed.

I had to smirk… if only he heard what he just said and how he said it.

Later on, we were getting ourselves ready to go to the bonfire. I was waiting outside on the deck. I just had on some shorts and a button up shirt that was buttoned at the top and the rest was tied up. I just had my boots for shoes. The sun was already starting to go down and I was getting a little impatient. “They say girls take too long getting ready…” I grumbled.

He was probably trying to get the mud off of him. Earlier we had to bring the horses in from the pasture so my dad could make sure their shoes were still nailed on alright. Kiba tried to go for Cobalt, and ended up having to chase him… I eventually helped him after having a good laugh watching the show. We tried bringing them in, but… Cobalt took off running and dragged Kiba through the mud. I laughed, but gave him props for holding on so long.

The door opened, and out came Kiba. He just had shorts on and sandals. I had to admit… he did have some muscle… But I still wasn’t that impressed. More over aggravated that he took so damn long. “’Bout time. Thought you drowned in the shower or something.” I said with an annoyed look.

“Hey, you can’t just look this good by doing nothing.” He said with a sly grin. But then he stopped dead in his tracks. He saw me, almost seeming a little surprised. “Whoa…” He said looking me up and down.

I just rolled my eyes and sighed. “Come on, we’ll be late if we don’t get a move on.” I said and headed for my truck.

Kiba followed, trying to stop staring, and we got in. I started the engine and started driving out of the long driveway. It didn’t take too long to reach the lake. I could see the fire glowing already, and heard some music. I smirked and bit and found a place to park.

“Come on city slicker. We’ll show you how a real party works.” I said getting out of the truck, and closing the door.

“Heh, doubt that.” He said and followed. It seemed he finally snapped out of his trance.

We walked out of the trees and both saw the large bonfire with dancing teens and young adults all around. This was what I called fun. Kiba blinked at the scene.

“The hell…?” He said seeing all of the commotion. What he noticed were the good looking and fit girls showing some skin. “Damn…” He said as if surprised.

I smirked and headed for the crowd. Man his expression was priceless at that very moment. But before I could really go any further…

“Hey Hinari!” A voice exclaimed and picked me up from behind by the waist and spun me around.

I was taken by slight surprise, but I knew who it was right off the bat. “Keichii put me down!” I exclaimed. I wasn’t really one who enjoyed being picked up… at all.

“Aw, you’re no fun Hinari!” He said and set me down. But he knew better alright.

Kiba blinked seeing my friend. Who the heck was this guy? Was he going to make it harder to get close to Hinari? He couldn’t have that now could he?

“You must be a friend of Hinari’s.” He said with a grin and walked up.

Keichii raised a brow and looked over. But his expression suddenly became unfriendly. “Yeah, and you must be the bastard she told me about.” He replied.

“Come on Keichii, be nice.” A voice said coming up from behind Keichii. It was Raida.

Kiba sweat dropped at his words. So Hinari told them… and he took it that he was really upset for what he did to his friend.

“But Raida, you heard what Hinari said he did!” Keichii argued and kept eyeing off Kiba.

“Yeah I know. But you shouldn’t go killing the guy right when you meet him.” She said with a sigh.

Kiba almost seemed relieved this girl was friendly.

“We gotta wait and show him how we country folk get back at people. Scare him a little first.” She added on, and Kiba sweat dropped.

“Ah, don’t you two worry none. Cobalt showed him a lesson.” I said with a smirk.

Both Keichii and Raida seemed to know what I meant, and laughed. They met Cobalt before, and they knew what he was like.

“You’re going to hold that over me for a long time, aren’t you?” Kiba sighed, and watched as I just kept on smirking. He seemed to already know what that meant.

Keichii almost seemed smug at the scene. “Well, come on Hinari! Let’s get this party started!” He grabbed my hand and started dragging me to the dancing crowd. I sighed and just didn’t argue.

Kiba just gave Keichii a look and went to lean on a tree. “I’m not going to lose that bet. Not because of this hick.” He scowled.

“What bet might that be?” A voice said suddenly from beside Kiba, causing him to jump.

He looked over to see Raida, and she was closer than he thought. It was really creepy… “Uh… none of your business.” He finally said and crossed his arms, going back to look for Keichii and I in the crowd.

Raida had other plans. She stepped in front of him and got right up into his face. “I swear to God… if you ever do anything to hurt Hinari what so ever, I will cut off your balls, chop them into little pieces, and shove them down your throat.” She said with a scary and intimidating tone.

Kiba gulped a bit, unable to make a smart ass comment as usual. This girl was scary… almost as bad as Hinari. “Y-yeah… got it…” He replied.

Raida gave a huff and started to walk away from him. But she gave the gesture for, I’m watching you.

Kiba wasn’t sure what to think of her… But she couldn’t do anything to stop him from winning the bet. He sighed and looked back to the crowd, scanning for where ever I was. Oh he spotted me alright.

Kiba’s jaw went a little slack when he saw me. “Damn…” He said to himself. He quickly regained himself and grinned slyly. Putting up his hands, he made a picture frame with his fingers. In the center of this picture frame? It was me. “She has got one hell of an ass…” He commented watching as I danced with my friends.

Here’s an ironic little tidbit for you… The song playing… Honkytonk Badonkadonk.
